Some action today in FNBB about the only thing to write home about.

Egypt: EGX 30 -0.67%, USD 102m

The Egyptian market witnessed profit booking today continuing yesterday's quick profit-taking at the end of the session. The index failed to breach the 9,500 level for the third consecutive time, with the EGX30 losing 0.97% to close at 9403.39 points on average volumes of EGP731 million. The real estate sector saw some selling pressure today following the recent hike. HELI fell 2.36%, TMGH 0.65%, OCDI 3.87%, PHDC 1.35%, and MNHD 2.72%. AMER witnessed the biggest drop in two months after the company announced it will terminate the Syria project contract. Foreigners ended the day as net buyers worth EGP86 million, accounting for 15.89% of market participation.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.18%, USD 3.7m

A very slow start to the week in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $3.7m with foreigners all but absent from the market. KenoKobil continues to be relatively active on foreign demand with 9.13m shares changing hands today. Locals dominated EQBNK (+0.5%) as 1.02m shares traded. Safcom was rather quiet with only 2.58m shares trading on the day. Standard Group released H1 2014 results with EPS falling -8.22%.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.12%, USD 1.1m

Nothing much on the go in Port Louis with the most active stock being Ciel Textile. In the Sem-7 there were gains for MCBG (+12bps, Rs209.75), NMH (+57bps, Rs88.00) and Alteo (+57bps, Rs35.50).

Nigeria: ASI -0.54%, USD 9.2m

Another dire day in Lagos with turnover amounting to an extremely dull $9.2m. There was a small amount of activity in GTB (1.25m) and Oando ($1.01m) while it is not even worth mentioning the other big names. Banks closed lower with the index falling -0.28% with some weakness in Zenith (-1.62%) and FBNH (-1.23%). Consumers (-0.62%) also closed lower thanks to NB (-1.73%).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.26%, USD 677k

A dull start to the week in Harare. The only real activity took place in DZLH (13c) while Econet and Delta closed at 76.02c and 135c respectively.
