Botswana: DCI -0.14%, USD 860k

It was a decent day in Gaborone as value traded amounted to USD 860k thanks to some action in Letshego (2.39m) while the rest of the market was rather quiet.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.40%, USD 130m

The Egyptian market rallied for the second consecutive day on upbeat institutional buying momentum. The EGX30 gained 0.4% to close at 9274 points on higher-than-average volumes of USD 130m. The index proxy COMI inched 0.18% higher on just under 900 million shares, taking a breather today following yesterdays all time high rally. The real estate sector outperformed today. OCDI led market volumes reaching EGP42.99/share on 3x average volumes with 2.4 million shares changing hands. PHDC, HELI and MNHD followed suit adding 2.09%, 4.24%, and 1.23% respectively. Foreigners were net buyers accounting for approximately 9.96% of market participation.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.16%, USD 4.2m

A quiet day in Kenya with foreign participation extremely low. The most activity took place in CFC Stanbic which saw 100% local participation while Safcom saw some mild activity as it gained 40bps to KES12.80. The banks were mixed with KNCB gaining 90bps to KES54 while Equity Bank sold off by 1.6% to KES45. EABL was practically dead.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.06%, USD 980k

Some activity in MCBG (42k shares ) and Ciel (114k shares) the only names worth mentioning as value traded amounted to USD 980k. Monthly tourist arrivals for July increased +5.9% with the number of Chinese visitors increased +52.5%

Nigeria: ASI +0.19%, USD 23.2m

Another quiet day although a few more crosses took place today compared to the previous session. Banks fell by 1.33% with UBA particularly hard hit (-3.80%, N7.60) although this was followed by weakness in GTB (-1.67%, N29.50) and Zenith (-1.24%, N24.59). All the action took place in the Tier 1 names. Consumers gained a solid 85bps with volume and direction driven by NB (+2.57%, N179.50, on good volumes). Oando was yet again actively traded by local investors as it slid by 1.57% to N26.90 on decent volumes.
