Local investors continue to dominate the activity in Kenya as African markets remain lackluster. NIC saw entirely local trading while BMBC saw a decent cross (local seller, foreign buyer).

Mauritius: Semdex +0.07%, USD 1.85m

Another solid day in Port Louis from an activity point of view with turnover amounting to USD 1.85m. Activity in MCBG (95k shares) and SBM (10.39m shares) drove proceedings while 49k shares changed hands in NMH.

Nigeria: ASI +0.58%, USD 15.6m

Another dull day in Lagos. The banks recovered dramatically (+1.75%) as the Tier 1 names in particular rallied hard. Leading the pack were GTB (+3.43%, N29.87), UBA (+3.48%, N7.44), FBNH (+2.77%, N14.49) and Zenith (+1.85%, N24.75). The consumers gained a modest 8bps today with none of the names really gaining or losing much ground. The activity was centered on NB (+15bps, N175) and UACN (-39bps, N58.52). Oando had another active day as it gained 2.55% to N26.15 on decent volume.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

A much better day in Harare with turnover increasing to USD 1.12m thanks to some action in ABCH ($866k) and a small bit of activity in Delta ($150k) while the rest of the market was very quiet. The market closed higher with the Industrial Index gaining 0.07%.
