A quiet day in Nairobi after yesterday’s holiday as foreign investors largely quiet. As usual, activity was focused on the larger cap names. Safcom rose slightly to close at KES 12.05 while EABL was generally strong (KES297) albeit on quiet volumes. It is banks’ earnings season and this morning we saw EqBnk announce H1 results. The name was generally strong and closed at KES45.00. KNCB announces tomorrow morning and the name was also looking strong today (KES54.00).

Mauritius: Semdex +0.18%, USD 1.17m

A rather average day in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 1.17m thanks to some action in the likes of MCBG (42k shares) and SBM (8.14m shares). There was also some activity in Terra as 187k shares changed hands while it was rather slow going in NMH (3k shares).

Nigeria: ASI +0.20%, USD 41.5m

An active return to the Lagos bourse after the long weekend with local investors totally dominant. There was a chunky cross in Access (both sides local) early on while heavy local trading in Oando totally dominated the session.
