Another rather average day as turnover amounted to $6.9m with locals dominating proceedings. Foreign selling drove EQBNK -1.0% lower as 3.24m shares traded in the name. Safcom continued to gain with the telco closing +0.6% higher as 9.54m shares changed hands. Kenya Power was rather active today as 4.12m shares traded with activity evenly spread between locals and foreigners. There was also some action in Centum as 1.11m shares traded over the day.

Nigeria: ASI +0.34%, USD 14.4m

The highlight of the day was an off-market cross of 82m Oando at 18.00 while the rest of the market was very quiet as turnover amounted to $14.4m with some action in GTB ($3.49m), NB ($3.37m) and Zenith ($2.76m). Banks closed higher with the sector gaining +1.66% thanks to good performances in FBNH (+4.94%), ETI (+3.77%) and UBA (+3.18%). Consumers (-0.47%) closed lower with weakness in Dangote Sugar (-5.00%) and Guinness (-1.53%).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.38%, USD 269k

Top trades by value included Delta ($170k), Econet ($15K), Pearl ($32k) and Seedco ($33k), apart from these the market was extremely quiet. Losses in Delta (-1%) and Ok Zim (-1.52%) continued, with the counters closing at 108.90c and 13c after trading 156k and 6k shares respectively.
