A very impressive day from a turnover point of view as value traded amounted to $14.6m as activity was evenly split between locals and foreigners. Local demand drove Safcom +2.2% higher (KES 16.45) as 20.19m shares changed hands in the name. EQBNK (+0.5%) was also driven higher on local demand as 4.59m shares traded in the name while KNCB closed the day unchanged at KES 60.50 on 2.46m shares. There was some decent activity in the usually illiquid BAT as 268k shares traded. EABL (-0.6%) closed the day lower as the selling came from both locals and foreigners
Mauritius: Semdex +0.002%, USD 2.9m
SBM reached a high of Rs0.99 to close at Rs0.98 (-0.1%) after 9.3m shares were crossed at those levels. MCBG traded a total of 268k shares closing the session off at Rs198.00 (-0.3%).
Nigeria: ASI +0.61%, USD 36.1m
A rather active day in Lagos with some chunky crosses particularly in Nestle (both sides foreign). The consumers gained 2.25% with all the volume going through in Nestle (unch, N800) and NB (+2.99%, N140.07). The banks gained almost 1% with all Tier 1 names seeing decent volumes. The bulk of the action took place in UBA (-5%, N3.83) and Zenith (+3.14%, N18.08). There was also some local trading in Oando (-1.48%, N13.30).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -1.27%, USD 189k
The index retreated drastically due to price losses in heavyweights Econet(-1.95%, 51c), Natfoods(-4.76%,300c ) and Ok Zim(-7.69%,12c). The stocks traded a total of 209k, 165, 380 shares respectively.
