Botswana: DCI +0.08%, USD 1.9m

Upwards momentum continues in Gaborone as turnover remains high. The top trades include BIHL ($138k), Choppies ($195k) and FNBB ($1.6m).

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.01%, USD 6.2m

A rather uneventful start to the week in Nairobi. As usual the top 5 stocks were the most active. The banks were both strong as Equity Bank rose by 1% to KES51.50 while KNCB was up 80bps to KES61.00. Safcom was also solid and gained 60bps to KES16.70 while EABL ended the day unchanged at KES324.00.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.32%, USD 4.2m

Total turnover was mainly geared towards NMH and MCBG- together accounting 77.9%. MCBG closed the session down by 0.8% at Rs197.00 after the counter traded a total of 293k shares and NMH traded 885k shares closing 0.7% up at Rs67.50. SBM traded a large volume of 2.1m shares closing at Rs0.97(-1%)

Nigeria: ASI +1.73%, USD 9.2m

With most of the country finishing up the voting process we saw an expectedly quiet day on the NSE. The market did inch up throughout the day with banks (+2.76%) the main driver behind this outperformance. The Tier 1 banks all closed in the green with the sector also accounting for the bulk of the days turnover. The major players were FBNH (+1.14%, N8.90) and GTB (+2.63%, N25.00). Consumers were broadly quiet outside of a couple of small crosses in Guinness (-79bps, N126.00).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.89%, USD 244k

A slow start to the week in Harare as turnover only amounted to a paltry 244k. Top trades included Econet ($119k), Delta ($40k) and seedco ($34k), closing at 50c (-1.96%), 105c (-3.67%) and 103c (-2.83%) respectively.
