Kenya: NSE 20 +0.60%, USD 6.0m

Things slowed down in Nairobi, but activity was still relatively respectable with Safcom ($3.6m) accounting for the lion's shares of turnover as the telco closed +2.5% higher after releasing FY 2017 numbers yesterday. Unfortunately there was sporadic activity in a few other names with nothing worth reporting on. KNCB closed the day +0.7% higher on low volume after releasing Q1 2017 results.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.50%, USD 1.5m

Another strong day in Mauritius as MCBG continues to pump. The banking group rose by a further 2.6% to Rs240.00 on chunky volumes. There was also some activity in Alteo.

Nigeria: ASI +3.18%, USD 24.8m

Activity continued to improve in Lagos today, thanks once again to action in a few names with the likes of DangCem ($4.7m), Nestle ($3.3m), Zenith ($2.7m), GTB ($2.3m) and Flour Mills ($1.7m) leading the way. Banking stocks continued to power ahead with the sector closing +4.00% higher with good moves in Zenith (+4.97%) and GTB (+4.97%). Consumer stocks (+3.32%) also had a solid day thanks to Flour Mills (+5.08%).

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.06%, USD 988k

Action returned to the ZSE today although foreign participants remain largely absent. There was some trading in the likes of CBZ (9.54c).
