Movers & Shakers: May 19, 2017

Botswana: DCI -0.20%, USD 2.1m

It was all about Sechaba today with the name closing at 2000t and accounting for almost the entire turnover.

Kenya: NSE 20 +1.26%, USD 11.5m

Yet again some chunky trading in Safcom (unch, KES20.25). There was also 1 or 2 chunky crosses in EABL (+87bps, KES232.00) while UMME continues to witness foreign selling and local buying crosses. The rest of the market was dull.

Mauritius: Semdex +1.10%, USD 2.11m

A strong end to the week thanks to a massive surge in MCBG (+3.7%, Rs250.00) on decent volume. This is now yet another all-time high for the banking giant. There was also some chunky crossing in the normally illiquid Rockcastle (-3.9%, Rs2.45) while the rest of the market was dull.

Nigeria: ASI +0.04%, USD 17.1m

A solid end to what has been an entertaining week in Lagos. The banks closed 13bps in the green with action once again heavily centered on GTB (-32bps, N31.50) and Zenith (-45bps, N17.89). The consumers slipped down by 43bps with NB (-88bps, N143.96) witnessing some chunky crosses. The other names that dominated the turnover charts were Dangcem (-1bp, N162.99) and Seplat (+5.00%, N367.50).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.58%, USD 1.4m

Another very impressive day in Harare on the activity front, relatively speaking, thanks once again to Econet ($901k) while there was also some action in Seedco ($354k).
