Some nice action today was witnessed in normally illiquid names. The 3 most active names were BIHL (1731t), Sechaba (2950t) and Turnstar (326t).
Turnover continues to decline in Nairobi with foreigners all but absent. Some small action in NIC Bank ($317k) was the day's top mover while the big names were woefully quiet.
Today’s action was heavily dominated (66%) on the MCBG India Sovereign Bond. The name saw 230k shares change hands at a price of USD10.55. In normal trading, the main trades went through in MCBG (unch, Rs219.00).
Save for a cross in ETI ($2.7m), it was another woeful day in Lagos as not a single other name managed to break the $1m mark. Both major sectors continued to fall with Consumers closing -1.11% lower, while Banks fell -0.94% as ETI (-2.59%) dragged the sector down.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The index continues to run strongly thanks to the aggressive local buyers. Delta closed today at 78c (albeit on tinies) while Innscor is now at 30c.
