A quiet day in Gaborone today with most of the action in Letshego and BTCL.

Kenya: NSE 20 Unch, USD 5.4m

The NSE 20 closed flat on the day with reduced turnover, as we noticed a bit of year-end lull. Foreign participation dropped to 46% from 70%. Safcom was once again the most active name, accounting for 55% of turnover as it closed 1.9% higher on the day.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.28%, USD 3.33m

Activity was heavily dominated by CIEL (unch, Rs7.16) with 6m shares exchanging hands. MCBG closed higher for the 4th consecutive session at Rs272.00 (+0.4%), while banking peer SBMH followed suit, settling at Rs7.60 (+1.1%).

Nigeria: ASI +1.1%, USD 4.2m

The year-end lull also crept into Nigeria as volumes dropped to $4.2m. the index closed higher, supported by the Banks and Industrials. Guaranty, Zenith, UBA, Transcorp and Seplat dominated the turnover on the day, all accounting for approximately half of the total market turnover.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.22%, USD 2.70m

Only a handful names traded today and the lion's shares of today's activity took place in OML (+0.04%, $4.5479). While Econet (-2.2% 0.8408c), closed lower again. The Industrial Index continued with southward as it lost a further 0.22% today. Foreigners dominated today’s session as inflows contributed 76.5% of the day’s turnover.
