Another impressive day in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $2.36m thanks to large crosses in FNBB (2.99m shares) and Sefalana (760k shares).
Not much on the go in Nairobi today as turnover amounted to $5.8m as foreigners dominated proceedings. Another negative was the fact that the NSE 20 Index closed below the 2014 lows at 4,716.4. There was some decent activity in Safcom as 11.1m shares traded with the telco falling -1.5%. A cross drove proceedings in NSE with the buyer being foreign while the seller was local as 7.03m shares traded. Both major banking stocks closed lower with EQBNK falling -0.5% while KNCB fell -0.8% on the back of foreign selling.
The strength from last week filtered through into the start of this week as the Semdex rose by 20bps. Most of this was thanks to strength in MCBG (+10bps, Rs207.25) and NMH (+1.6%, Rs63.00).
A rather slow start to the week as turnover amounted to a disappointing $14.22m. Things would have been a lot worse were it not for crosses in UBA ($4.32m), Zenith ($3.94m) and NB ($1m). Banks closed lower with the Index falling -0.27% thanks to Zenith (-0.85%), Access (-0.82%) and GTB (-0.76%) while UBA managed to gain +3.50%. Consumers (-0.50%) also closed lower with Guinness (-3.03%) and NB (-0.53%) dragging the sector lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another dull day in Harare although a cross in Innscor (70c) accounted for almost all the activity. Big names Delta and Econet were quiet.
