Another dull day in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $112k.
The highlight of the day was undoubtly an off-market EQBNK cross whereby Helios sold a 2.44% (ca. 90m shares) stake to NSSF Uganda (the social security fund) at a price of KES 50.00 per share. Helios appears to be disposing its stake in the bank, but in blocks to strategic investors. Elsewhere the market was also very active as turnover amounted to $22.4m thanks to a large foreign cross in KNCB as a total of 28.1m shares traded in the name. Locals dominated both sides of Centum as 3.2m shares traded. Not much on the go in Safcom or EABL as 4.04m shares and 467k shares traded in the names respectively.
Another rather dull day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $495k with some small activity in MCBG (34k shares) and SBMH (4.21m shares).
A much better day in Lagos thanks to large crosses in JBerger ($12.09m) and Unilever ($7.71m) as total value traded amounted to $30.7m. There was also some action in Zenith ($3.14m), GTB ($2.06m) and FBNH ($1.29m) while the rest of the market was rather quiet. Banks closed the day lower with the sector falling -0.52% thanks to losses in ETI (-2.18%), FBNH (-1.72%) and UBA (-0.96%). Consumers (-0.30%) were also weaker as IntBrew (-3.69%) and Dangote Sugar (-2.86%) dragged the sector lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another dull day in Zimbabwe as the general lack of interest continues.
