Nothing on the go in Gaborone as turnover amounted to a dull $43k.
A better day as foreign participation increased to 67% with total value traded amounting to $7.1m. Local selling pushed Safcom -2.1% lower as 11.1m shares traded in the telco. Foreign selling drove NMG -2.7% lower on 653k shares as a few crosses went through in the name. Foreigners dominated both sides of EABL as the brewer fell -1.3% on 295k shares. There was also some foreign action in Co-op Bank as 834k shares traded.
A very quiet day in Mauritius as value traded didn’t even breach the $1m mark. The bulk of the action took place in MCBG (unch, Rs217.00).
The Lagos bourse remains extremely subdued and if it wasn’t for a couple of chunky crosses in Zenith the turnover wouldn’t have cracked through the $10m barrier. Banks gained 36bps with almost all the action centered on Zenith (+2.05%, N19.90) and ETI did see some late crossing at the N22.50 level. Consumers ended the day slightly soft although outside of NB (-37bps, N150.01) the sector was dull. Nothing else to report on.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A somewhat improved day in Harare although volumes remain well below historical norms. Today’s action was led by a cross in Seedco at 95c (local seller, foreign buyer) followed by a smaller cross in Old Mutual (267.50c).
