Not much going on in the market at the market
The Market opened the day with a block trade in TPSEA Serena, the counter closed the day up 1.4% at KES36. Foreign participation remains muted as they accounted for 17.2% of total turnover. Top movers included BAT (+4.6%, KES733), ARM (unch, KES72), Safaricom (-0.3%, KES16.05) and TPSEA. Market heavies Equity Bank and KCB shed 0.5% and 0.9% to close at KES46.25 and KES56.50 respectively. Centum released its FY15 results whereby investment income grew 142.2% and PAT rose 160%.
Things continue to soar in port Louise whereby market turnover was mainly geared towards MCB (accounted for 53%). MCB traded a total of 190k shares to close up 1% at Rs211.50. Once again SBM was the most actively traded counter with the stock trading a total of 13.8m shares to closed flat at Rs0.93. Most names closed the session unchanged.
The highlight of the day was a massive off-market cross of 11m Seplat shares at N300. In normal trading we saw a chunky cross in Guinness (local). Banksfell by 49bps with the sector generally quiet, although there was some activity in ETI (+77bps, N22.17), GTB (+45bps, N26.97) and Zenith (-1.96%, N19.51). Consumers gained 15bps with action focused on Guinness (-5.28%, N174.80) and Nestle (unch, N850.00). The rest of the market was dull.

TSL and Econet accounted for the bulk of market turnover in the session. The counters contributed $1.6m and $641k to close at 25c (unch) and 43.05c (0.12%) respectively. Other significant contributors included BAT, Innscor and Seedco.
