Activity continued to impress in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $2.7m thanks to crosses in NAP (4.7m shares), Letshego (2.49m shares) and Chobe (737k shares).
Another sluggish sort of day in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $5.9m as foreigners continued to dominate activity. A few decent crosses in Safcom drove proceedings as 21.37m shares traded in the telco. EABL manged to gain +0.6% as local demand drove the brewer higher. Local buyers dominated purchases in EQBNK as the bank closed unchanged. The Monetary Policy Committee increased the benchmark rate from 8.5% to 10% in order to try halt the slide in the Shilling.
A relatively dull day in Port Louis although the buoyancy remains thanks to MCBG (+40bps, Rs208.00). SBMH closed unchanged at Rs0.94.
Yet another dull day in Nigeria even though a number of crosses went through. Banks shed 62bps dragged lower by UBA (-2.44%, N5.20) and FBNH (-1.67%, N8.85). Consumers ended the day marginally in the red with only Unilever (+73bps, N45.50) showing any signs of life. There was decent crossing in Wapco (unch, N99.50) while the rest of the market was dormant.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
For the second day in a row the only activity in the market was Innscor (unch, 70c). There was also mild action in Delta at 105c.
