The little volume the stock exchange experienced was done mostly by FNBB ($40k) accounting for 64% of the market, the rest of the market was extremely quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.7%, USD 5.8m

The market reversed its negative streak at the start of the year to close higher as crosses in Safcom (+0.9%) and EABL (Unchanged) dominated the action on the day. Both names accounted for 77% of turnover. Foreign participation was down to 74% from 83%.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.22%, USD 560k

Another below par day in Port Louis with MCBG once again trading Rs276.50 advancing 0.5% accounting for 58% of total market turnover. The only other names worth mentioning Lux Island Resorts (+0.7%, Rs69.50), Sun Resorts (unch, Rs48.70) and SBM (+0.8%, Rs7.56).

Nigeria: ASI +1.28%, USD 10.79m

The market returned to its bullish ways as all indices (led by the banks), ex the consumers closed higher on the day. The Banks, supported by Diamond and FCMB, together with the Oils closed 3.85% and 2.14% higher respectively.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.74%, USD 781.93k

We saw a decent day in Harare as trading from yesterday went up by almost 100% as notable trades were posted in Delta and Old Mutual. Delta traded $196k at 155.50c while Old Mutual traded $106k at 461.10c, the only other name worth mentioning was Axia trading a massive $181k at 18.00c accounting for 23% of the market.
