Botswana: DCI -0.06%, USD 2.67m

Letshego closed the session as the dominant player, as the counter exchanged 10.38m shares which accounted for 99% of turnover. Elsewhere the market was extremely quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.20%, USD 6.4m

It was an average start to the week from an activity point of view with turnover amounting to $6.4m as activity was evenly spread between locals and foreigners, with foreigners dominating purchases (60%). Safcom managed to gain +0.7% thanks to foreign demand on 14.7m shares. Locals dominated both sides of KNCB as the name closed unchanged. Foreign demand drove Co-op Bank +2.9% higher on 3.6m shares while local investors drove BMBC +1.3% higher.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.58%, USD 1.27m

A slow start to the week in Port Louise, as indices continue to close in the red. The banking heavyweights accounted 61% of total market turnover. MCBG shed 0.5% to close at Rs198.50 on a total of 50k shares traded, while SBM closed 1% lower at Rs1.01 with 1.1m shares traded.

Nigeria: ASI +1.08%, USD 17.3m

A very dull start to the week which was somewhat salvaged by crosses in NB ($7.17m), GTB ($1.36m), Zenith ($1.28m) and PZ Cussons ($1.23m) as total market turnover amounted to $17.3m. Banks started the week on a positive note with the sector gaining +0.50% thanks to GTB (+2.30%). Consumers (+2.28%) had a very strong day thanks to Dangote Sugar (+10.12%), Glaxo (+5.00%) and NB (+4.91%). Market heavyweight DangCem gained +1.09%.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.25%, USD 913k

Thin trades dominated proceedings as Delta closed unchanged at 111.10c, trading a total of 273,355 shares, with firm demand persisting in the name. Other movers included Econet and Seedco, which closed at 50c and 102c, with 579,843 and 255,700 shares traded respectively.
