Another very average day in Nairobi as locals completely dominated proceedings (70%) with total value traded amounting to $6.0m. Foreign demand drove Co-op Bank +2.3% higher as 4.99m shares traded in the name. Local selling pressure pushed EABL -0.3% lower as 152k shares traded in the brewer. There was some foreign action in the usually illiquid UMME as 1.99m shares traded while Mumias Sugar gained +6.3% on local demand.

Mauritius: Closed for the day.

Nigeria: ASI +0.46%, USD 20.1m

A better day in Lagos but still nothing to write home about as turnover increased to $20.1m. There was some action in Dangote Sugar ($3.73m), DangCem ($2.56m), Zenith ($2.55m), FBNH ($1.95m) and Access ($1.58m). Banks were on the charge today with the sector gainig +3.28% thanks to good gains in Zenith (+5.00%), GTB (+4.98%) and Access (+3.90%). Consumers (-0.49%) closed lower with NB (-2.01%) and Unilever (-0.93%) dragging the sector lower.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.03%, USD 1.58m

Turnover managed to break the $1m mark, buoyed by trades in Delta($272k) , Econet ($588k) , Seedco ($462k) and Innscor ($)224k. The giant teleco, Econet traded a total of 1.09m shares to close at 51c, while the other movers traded 244k, 453k and 387k shares respectively.
