Botswana: DCI -0.01%, USD 354k

Some thin volumes went through in BIHL (115k) and Choppies (327k), apart from that the rest of the market was quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.29%, USD 8.9m

A better day as locals continue to dominate proceedings with total value traded amounting to $8.9m. Local selling pressure drove Co-op Bank -2.4% lower as 9.61m shares traded in the name. Foreigners dominated both sides of Safcom as 8.38m shares traded with the telco gaining +0.7%. There were a few decent crosses in Brit as foreigners looked to offload the counter. Both EQBNK and KNCB closed the day unchanged as 1.13m shares and 764k shares traded respectively.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.23%, USD 2.73m

Indices continued their respective declines in port Louise as MCBG closed lower at Rs197.50 (-0.3%) on the back of 15.7k shares traded, however more shares exchanged hands in SBM, with the counter closing firm at Rs1.00, as 7.4m shares traded in the name. The biggest loser of the day was LUX, which fell to 5 month low of Rs52 (-1.9%).

Nigeria: ASI -1.36%, USD 20.5m

Things got off to a decent start from an activity point of view in Lagos thanks to some action in banking stocks but then slowed down over the course of the session as turnover amounted to a disspointing $20.5m. There was some activity in Access ($3.89m), FBNH ($2.93m) and GTB ($2.16m). After a few strong days banking stocks came under pressure with the Index falling -2.08% thanks to UBA (-4.63%), Zenith (-3.42%) and GTB (-3.01%). Dangote Sugar (-4.92%) and NB (-3.03%) dragged consumers lower as the sector fell -1.35%.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.72%, USD 2.53m

A total of 11 counters registered trades today, with Delta and Econet leading the pack. Econet accounted for 56% of total market turnover, closing at 54c on the back of 2,619,025 shares traded. Delta also made a significant contribution, closing the session off at 115c after trading a total of 678,785 shares.
