Market remains dead.
Activity was much improved in Nairobi today although local investors still dominate the participation stakes. The most active name yet again was Safcom although today was mostly local with the Telco closing up 70bps at KES14.85. The 2 banks both lost ground with KNCB down by 80bps to KES59.00 and Equity Bank losing 90bps to KES53.00. There was a chunky cross in the normally very illiquid Serena (both sides foreign). EABL closed up 1.8% at KES332 after yesterday results release.
A massive cross in Gamma Civic on the special crossing board was the main focal point today. In normal trading we saw MCBG and SBMH both close unchanged at Rs197.50 and Rs1.01 respectively.
A few crosses once again dominate the market as the ASI continues to just drip lower day after day. Banks closed 2.7% down with most names closing in the red. Activity was highlighted by the likes of GTB (-4.82%, N17.00), ETI (-4.88%, N16.17) and Zenith (-45bps, N15.62). Consumers slipped by 52bps led by some massive crossing in NB (-1bp, N129.00). In the cements we also saw chunky activity in Dangcem (-2.14%, N141.90) and Wapco (-56bps, N78.51).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A small gain to end the week in Harare with OKZ rising by 6.87% to 14c and Old Mutual up by 42bps to 237c while Natfoods fell by 5.88% to 320c. There were crosses in Mash, Barclays and Econet (54.9c).
