Another dull day, with Letshego accounting for 99% of total market turnover.
A quiet day in Nairobi as locals dominated proceedings with turnover amounting to $5.7m. There was a large cross in the usually very illiquid Carbacid as 2.66m shares changed hands with the buyer being foreign while the seller was local. EQBNK and KNCB were rather quiet as 739k shares and 629k shares traded in the names respectively. Some foreign buying was unable to drive EABL higher as the name closed the day unchanged.
The market resumed on a negative note , as most of the indices closed in the red. MCBG slumped to Rs197.00 before closing the session off at Rs198.00(+0.3%) on a total of 29.8k shares traded. SBM did its customary song and dance, closing firm at Rs1.00, as a total 305.8k shares exchanged hands in the name.
An extremely dull day in Lagos as turnover amounted to a dire $14.7m. The highlight of the day was an off-market cross of 111m Oando at N18.00 with Dahiru Mangal Barau being the buyer while Ocean & Oil Development Partners Limited were the sellers. The only other names worth mentioning from an activity point of view were FBNH ($2.90m) and Zenith ($2.62m). Banks were very strong again with the sector gaining +4.52% thanks to strong moves in Zenith (+7.80%), ETI (+5.00%), GTB (+4.97%) and UBA (+4.86%). Consumers (+0.91%) also managed to close higher thanks to UACN (+5.00%) and Unilever (+4.75%).

The bourse traded thin volumes, as a result turnover saw a slight decline. Delta steered proceedings to close at 113.90c on a volume of 494,353 shares traded, followed closely behind by Econet, which closed the day off at 52c on a volume of 620,550 shares traded.
