Botswana: DCI +0.01, USD 23k

Another very dull day in Gaborone as activity remains incredibly muted.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.62%, USD 19.68m

It was a positive start to the month in Kenya as local crosses dominated the action, while foreign participation was at 26%. Blocks in KNOC and Safcom accounted for a total of 76% of total market turnover.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.56%, USD 560k

A mere Rs18.6m shares exchanged hands today on the bourse with SBMH and MCBG doing the damage, relatively speaking, accounting for 55% of today’s turnover. The former declined 0.8% trading at Rs7.54 while the later was unmoved at Rs275.00. The only other name worth mentioning was NMH also depreciating 0.8% trading at Rs25.00 as the rest of the market was extremely quiet.

Nigeria: ASI -1.12%, USD 13.5m

The month of March started on a negative note in Nigeria as the banks, consumers and industrials all closed lower on the day. Guaranty (-2.04%) and Zenith (-1.25%) both dominated the action with a few blocks in the names, accounting for a total of 56% of turnover.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.19%, USD 731k

A massive decline from yesterday’s booming activity even though it wasn’t a really bad day in Harare with Seedco ($211k) accounting for 29% of the market turnover at 195.00c continuing its topsy-turvy movement. As Old Mutual ($144k) appreciated slightly trading at 532.49c and the only other name worth a mention was Delta ($119k) sitting at 158.00c.
