Movers & Shakers: September 04, 2015

Botswana: DCI -0.43%, USD 500k

Some activity in Letshego the only name worth mentioning as 1.49m shares changed hands.

Kenya: NSE 20 -1.01%, USD 5.4m

Another quiet day in Nairobi as local investors remain dormant due to better fixed income yields. Activity, as always, was centered on the large cap names. Safcom fell by 2.3% to KES14.85 while BATK fell 9.8% to KES676.00. EABL, EqBnk and KNCB all closed marginally in the green.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.06%, USD 1.21m

A slower day to end the week, but still decent relatively speaking with Sanlam (115k shares) once again driving activity while there was some small activity in MCBG (59k shares).

Nigeria: ASI +0.40%, USD 13.4m

A dull end to a dull week in Lagos although the index did at least show some positive signs of life. Banks led the strength by gaining 2.08% although activity in the sector was rather quiet. Consumers closed down 42bps but this sector was also extremely quiet. The bulk of today’s trading took place in Wapco with numerous local and foreign participants playing in the name (unch, N97.00).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.46%, USD 424k

A slow day to end the week in Harare with turnover amounting to $424k with some activity in Innscor ($195k) and Delta ($115k).
