Some decent action in Choppies drove proceedings today as 791k shares changed hands in the counter while the rest of the market was very quiet.
Another quiet day in Nairobi. Safcom (-30bps, KES15.15) was the most active name accounting for approximately 40% of the turnover. There was also some mild action in KNCB (-2.6%, KES47.75) and EABL (-2.1%, KES281.00).
Another rather average day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.3m thanks to a large cross in NMH as 1.7m shares traded in the counter. Not much on the go in MCBG (20k shares) and SBMH (3.6m shares).
Another dull day in Lagos ahead of quarter end. The index did inch marginally higher despite a fall-off in banks (-1.18%). Most banking stocks closed in the red with activity led by FBNH (-48bps, N6.17) and GTB (-1.30%, N24.28). The consumers closed the day slightly in the green although outside of NB (+24bps, N147.01) the sector was quiet.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Today was all about CBZ as a few chunky crosses (local buyer, foreign seller) went through in the name at 8.3c. CBZ accounted for almost the entire day’s volumes.
