Botswana: DCI -1.40%, USD 412k

Some decent action in Choppies drove proceedings today as 791k shares changed hands in the counter while the rest of the market was very quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.40%, USD 5.7m

Another quiet day in Nairobi. Safcom (-30bps, KES15.15) was the most active name accounting for approximately 40% of the turnover. There was also some mild action in KNCB (-2.6%, KES47.75) and EABL (-2.1%, KES281.00).

Mauritius: Semdex -0.12%, USD 1.3m

Another rather average day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.3m thanks to a large cross in NMH as 1.7m shares traded in the counter. Not much on the go in MCBG (20k shares) and SBMH (3.6m shares).

Nigeria: ASI +0.20%, USD 12.6m

Another dull day in Lagos ahead of quarter end. The index did inch marginally higher despite a fall-off in banks (-1.18%). Most banking stocks closed in the red with activity led by FBNH (-48bps, N6.17) and GTB (-1.30%, N24.28). The consumers closed the day slightly in the green although outside of NB (+24bps, N147.01) the sector was quiet.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.20%, USD 1.2m

Today was all about CBZ as a few chunky crosses (local buyer, foreign seller) went through in the name at 8.3c. CBZ accounted for almost the entire day’s volumes.
