The Nairobi bourse remains extremely sluggish while foreigners remain skewed to the buy side. The bulk of todays action took place in CFCB at KES90.00 (unch - local seller, foreign buyer). There was also some action in EABL at the KES300 level with foreigners dominant on both sides of the equation. Safcom and KNCB saw some more muted activity as well.
Some decent action again in Mauritius with the normally illiquid PBL (unch, Rs400.00) the major driver in this regard. There was also some milder action in MCBG (unch, Rs209.00) and NMH (-1.1%, Rs18.00).
Funnily enough the market got off to a fast start today in Lagos although this ground to a firm halt after about 1/3 of the session. Banks rose by 60bps with most Tier 1 names closing in the green. Activity was really dull in the sector except for Zenith which closed at N18.15 (+2.25%). Consumers were also quiet except for 1 cross in Nestle at N820 (unch) while UACN was the recipient of 2 crosses (+4.76%, N33.00). In the cements there was some action in Wapco (-1.01%, N98.00).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Action returned in Harare today primarily thanks to Delta as the brewer crossed a number of shares before closing at 85c. Econet and OKZim also tried to get in on the action and closed at 27.5c and 6.3c respectively.
