Activity returned with a flourish on the BSE today. This was highlighted by some nice action in the likes of Choppies (490t), Letshego (308t), Sechaba (2850t) and FNBB (387t).
Activity remains muted in Nairobi with foreign participants heavily skewed to the buy side. As always the bulk of the activity took place in the large cap names and these were generally strong thanks to the foreign demand. Safcom closed up at KES15.15 while Equity Bank closed at KES47.50 and EABL at 298. The only name to close lower was KNCB which fell to KES46.25. Outside of these names there was nothing worth reporting on.
The index dripped marginally lower while volumes remain generally thin. The most active stock was MCBG which closed unchanged at Rs209.75 while there was also some trading in the normally illiquid Gamma Civic (-5.1%, Rs27.00).
Another quiet day as both foreign and local investors remain largely uninterested. The index slipped by 19bps mostly thanks to downward pressure in the banks (-85bps). Banks were mostly active in ETI (-1.42%, N18.73), GTB (-2.49%, N23.50) and Zenith (+1.59%, N17.27). Consumers were broadly unchanged with activity focused on Nestle (-1bp, N820.00). outside of this the market was dull.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another dull session in Harare. A cross in DZL (local buyer, foreign seller) was about the only excitement.
