Nothing much to report from Gabrone as turnover amounted to a dull $166k.
Yet another painfully slow day in Nairobi although we did see the first signs of locals returning to the market. The most active stock was KNCB which closed marginally positive at KES46.50. There was some local crossing at KNAL (+5.3%, KES6.00) and CFCB (-1.9%, KES90.00). the other large cap names were eerily quiet.
A very solid day from an activity point of view as turnover amounted to $2.01m with some crosses in MCBG (226k shares) and SBMH (13.4m shares) while the rest of the market was rather quiet.
The ASI had a second consecutive strong day although this was on woefully small volumes yet again. The banks rose by 2.52% while the consumers closed the day 75bps higher. Banks were led by Zenith (+8.84%, N17.85) both in terms of volumes and direction. There was also some mild action in GTB (unch, N24.50) and UBA (+2.38%, N4.30). Consumers were mostly quiet except for some activity in NB (+2.24%, N128.05).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A much better day in Harare as turnover amounted to $1.43m thanks to some action in Econet ($699k) and Delta ($509k).
