Not a bad day to end the week (relatively speaking) with Choppies leading the way as 795k shares changed hands.
An extremely dull end to the week in Nairobi as foreigners dominated what little activity there was. The usually illiquid KenolKobil was the most active counter on the day as foreign demand push the name +3.9% higher on 9.1m shares. Not much on the go in Safcom as the telco fell -0.3% on local selling. EQBNK and KNCB ended the day mixed with the former closing unchanged while KNCB fell -2.6% as the name continues to struggle post results.
A decent enough day from an activity point of view, compared to what we have become accustomed to of late. MCBG was once again the main driver behind turnover with 81k shares traded on the day.
Not much on the go from an activity point of view on the last trading day of the week with crosses NB ($3.7m), Zenith ($2.5m) and UBA ($1.2m) dominating proceedings. Banking stocks continued to recover with the sector gaining +5.54% thanks to good performances from UBA (+10.02%) and Zenith (+7.48%). Consumers (+1.23%) also closed higher thanks to NB (+1.71%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A rather quiet end to the week in Harare. The main activity was in Delta which closed at 70c (local buying, foreign selling).
