A rather slow start to the week with FNBB and Sefalana the only names with a small bit of activity.
A couple of crosses lit up proceedings on the Kenyan bourse today. Foreign investors dominated the buy side while the sell side was skewed towards local sellers. The main crossing went through in Equity Bank (foreign buying, local selling) with the banking group closing unchanged at KES39.75. We also saw some chunky activity in Safcom with the telco ending the day at KES17.15 (+1.2%). There was also a chunky cross (local seller, foreign buyer) in BATK (KES849, +4.7%).
It was extremely quiet on the usual board in Port Louis today with nothing to report on. There was however a rather large cross on the DEM board as 3.4m ABC Banking shares changed hands.
An absolutely woeful start to the week in Lagos with a complete and utter lack of interest in the market. In fact, if it wasn’t for some crossing in NB (+9bps, N137.14) there would have been virtually nothing trading. NB accounted for more than 50% of today’s volumes. The rest of the market was exceptionally quiet with banks falling by 1.31% while consumers closed the day down 13bps.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A small cross in Econet the only name worth mentioning as 491k shares changed hands in the counter on a very quiet day in Harare.
